Large-scale Russian Strikes Eliminate Power Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered interruptions to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a distinct assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has increased strikes on electrical systems over recent weeks, while officials has called for "substantial measures" from international partners to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the United States, Europe and the G7 - in providing air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region experienced heavy assaults throughout the evening. A minor lost their life and several individuals were wounded.

The assaults come after periods of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting fuel infrastructure.

He said utility staff and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
